KEY ISSUES

In the complex world we live in many issues will confront America in the days ahead. But, three issues will dominate and will drive the national agenda. With that in mind, Bob’s candidacy will focus on a discussion of these themes:

The Economy

Because of the nature of the current financial crisis, an in depth understanding of economics, finance, business, banking, bank regulations, trade, etc. will be required. With our globalized economy, success in this area will also require a deep undertanding of how we relate to the rest of the world.

Healthcare is certainly an important part of this issue. No one is arguing that America has inferior medical systems, doctors, and medical facilities. The principal concern is the Americans are paying more for healthcare than any other country in the world and that we are not getting value for money. These excessive costs are putting good healthcare out of the reach of many Americans and damaging our global competitiveness. Reform is a must. But reform must reduce the price of healthcare.

Bob has spent his entire career working in these issues and has helped create tens of thousands of jobs at home and abroad. He has studied, written and lectured about job creation around the world.

Energy

After forty years of energy crises, America still has no energy policy. Yet, energy is a topic that touches virtually every other issue that we face. The competitiveness of the economy, the environment, foreign policy, security policy, etc. are all directly touched by energy issues. More than anything else, energy will shape the way we live and work in the years ahead.

Bob has spent twenty-five years working in all aspects of this critically important field and can make a major contribution to the debates we will certainly have on thus subject.

Foreign Policy

America is still engaged in two intractable wars abroad. We are borrowing unprecedented sums from abroad. Our manufacturing base has largely moved off shore.  We must put American interest first, while at the same time work to find a fair measure of cooperation with the rest of the world.

Bob has lived, studied and worked abroad in Asia, Europe and the Middle East and has traveled to virtually every country in those regions. He has extensive experience and expertise in foreign policy.
